Privacy policy
In short: Your chart is calculated and stored in your browser. There's no account and no analytics, and we never receive your birth details or those of anyone you add. The only thing that reaches a server is your visit itself, which Cloudflare logs like any web host. The site shows no ads today.
Who is responsible
This site, bazi.astromooncalendar.com, is the web version of Pillars (Pilares in Spanish), the BaZi app. It’s published by Violeta Osorio, in Argentina. For any privacy question, write to violetaosorior@gmail.com.
The Pillars phone app has its own policy: App privacy.
What you enter stays in your browser
To calculate a chart you enter a birth date, time and place, a name and, if you like, your relationship to that person, events and notes. The calculation runs in your browser, on the same engine as the app. Everything is stored only in this browser, in its local database (IndexedDB). None of it is sent to us or anyone else, and we can’t see it.
The site doesn’t add encryption of its own, so anyone who uses this browser under your account can see this data. On a shared computer, use a private window: it’s cleared when you close the window.
Other people’s details
You can add family, a partner or friends. Please do so only with their permission. It’s their information.
Backups, printing and QR codes
- Backups: a backup is a file you download, encrypted with a passphrase you choose. The passphrase isn’t stored anywhere, and we can’t recover it.
- Printing: the report is put together in your browser and printed by your browser. If you save it as a PDF, it goes wherever you save it.
- QR codes: a person’s code is made in your browser and shown as an image on your screen. Whoever scans it gets that person’s name and birth date, time and place, so show it only to people you want to have them.
To read someone else’s QR code, the site uses your camera only when you tap Scan and allow it in your browser. You can also choose a photo of the code instead. The image is read in your browser and is never stored or sent. You can take the camera permission back at any time in your browser’s settings.
Location
Location is optional and starts off. If you turn it on, the site asks your browser for your location and uses only a rough position, to show the day’s Chinese hours in the solar time where you are. It’s used in your browser while the page is open: it isn’t saved, isn’t included in backups and isn’t sent to anyone. If you leave it off or don’t allow it, the hours follow your time zone.
What Cloudflare logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, its servers log technical details of each request: your IP address, your browser and system (the “user agent”), the address requested and the time. Every server needs these to deliver a page. Cloudflare handles them under its own privacy policy.
Reading texts and the list of places download in pieces, as they’re needed. So those logs can show which piece was requested: say, the texts for one of the ten Day Masters, or the places that start with two particular letters. They never show your birth date, time or place, or your name.
Cloudflare may also use technical security cookies. They’re covered under Cookies and storage.
Ads
The site shows no ads today. It loads no third-party scripts and uses no advertising cookies.
It’s ready to show ads from Ezoic later on. If we turn them on, this is what changes:
- Ezoic and its advertising partners may use cookies and device identifiers to show ads, measure them, prevent fraud and, if you agree, personalize them. They’ll also receive your IP address, details about your browser and the address of the page you’re on.
- Where the law requires it, as in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you’ll first see Ezoic’s consent notice, and you’ll be able to change your choice under Privacy preferences.
- Your birth details, your people and your notes still won’t leave your browser. Ads never receive them.
- We’ll say so on this page, with the date of the change.
If you write to us
If you email us, we keep your message and your address in our Gmail inbox to answer you, and we use them for nothing else.
What we don’t do
- There’s no sign-up or login.
- We use no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- We set no cookies of our own.
- We don’t sell data.
- We don’t send notifications.
- Fonts are served from this site, not from another service.
How long data is kept and how to delete it
Your data stays in this browser until you delete it. To delete it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings. That removes your people, notes and settings, so if you want to keep them, download a backup first.
Some browsers clear a site’s data on their own: Safari, for example, may do it if you don’t visit for a week. Backups help there too.
Since we keep nothing on a server, there’s no data of yours to delete on our side. Cloudflare keeps its logs under its own policy.
Your rights
Under Argentina’s Personal Data Protection Law 25.326, and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. On this site you do it yourself, because your data is in your browser. If you have a question, or want to exercise a right over something we did receive (an email, for example), write to us.
The Agency for Access to Public Information (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública), as the supervisory authority under Law 25.326, handles complaints from anyone whose data protection rights have been affected (argentina.gob.ar/aaip). If you live in another country, you can also complain to your own data protection authority.
Age
This site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page with its date.
