Pillars privacy policy
This is the policy of the Pillars phone app. The website's own is at Privacy policy .
Effective 26 October 2026. Pillars is the English name of Pilares.
In short: your chart is calculated and stored on your phone, encrypted. There's no account and no server, and we never receive your birth details or those of anyone you add. The only things that use the internet are Google AdMob ads and the usage reports of the QR code reader (Google ML Kit). Neither receives your birth details.
Who is responsible
Pillars is an app by Violeta Osorio, in Argentina. For any privacy question, write to violetaosorior@gmail.com.
What you enter in the app
To calculate a chart you enter a birth date, time and place, a name and, if you like, your relationship to that person, events and notes. All of it is stored only on your phone, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is kept in the system's secure storage (Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain). None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
Other people's details
You can add family, a partner or friends. Please do so only with their permission. If you show your QR code, whoever scans it receives your birth date, time and place. The exchange goes from one phone to the other without using the internet.
Backups and PDFs
A backup is a file you export, encrypted with a passphrase you choose. We don't keep that passphrase and can't recover it. The PDF report is generated on your phone. In both cases you decide where to save the file and who to share it with.
Location
Location is optional and starts off. If you turn it on, Pillars asks for your approximate location (not your precise one) only to show the day's Chinese hours in the solar time where you are. It's used on the phone while the app is open: it isn't saved, isn't included in backups and isn't sent to anyone. You can turn it off in Settings or remove the permission in the system; the hours then follow your time zone.
Camera and notifications
The camera is used only to scan Pillars QR codes. The code is read on the phone with Google ML Kit, and images are not stored or sent. ML Kit may send Google anonymous usage and diagnostic data (for example the phone model, the system version and whether the scan worked), under its own policy: ML Kit terms.
Reminders are scheduled on the phone, with no server involved, and each one starts off: solar terms, your day, best days and days to avoid, questions to reflect on, the day's standout hour, your week's summary, the day searches you save, and dates (birthdays, anniversaries and a new decade).
Ads
Pillars is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. To show them, Google's SDK may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (from which an approximate location is derived), device information and your interactions with ads. Google handles that data under its own policy: how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before showing personalized ads. On iPhone, cross-app tracking only happens if you allow it.
- You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy, and in your phone's ad settings.
- Your birth details, names and notes are never shared with Google or advertisers.
What we don't do
There's no sign-up or login. We add no analytics or crash-reporting tools (the ML Kit reports above go to Google, and we don't see them). We don't sell data.
How long data is kept and how to delete it
Your data stays on the phone until you delete it (Settings → Delete everything, which also removes backups and PDFs prepared for sharing) or uninstall the app. Since we keep nothing, there is no data of yours to delete on our side. Google keeps ad data under its own policy.
Your rights
Under Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law 25.326, and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. In Pillars you do this directly in the app, because the data is on your phone. If you have a question, write to us.
The Agency for Access to Public Information (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública), as the supervisory authority under Law 25.326, handles complaints from anyone whose data protection rights have been affected.
Age
Pillars is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page with its date.
