The PDF report
This guide describes the Pillars phone app. The website does the same calculations, but some screens and features work differently or aren't here yet.
Sometimes you want the reading on paper: to read with a pencil, to give to someone, or to keep in a drawer with the family photos. The PDF report puts the full reading into A4 pages, made right on your phone.
How to open it
There are two ways:
- The export icon in the top bar (with the phone sideways, in the right-hand column). It makes the report for whoever is selected.
- The Export as PDF button at the end of the Full reading.
A sheet opens, called PDF report.
Page previews
At the top you'll see small pictures of the pages. Every time you change a switch or the language, they redraw after a moment, while a note says Getting the preview ready. Use them to check the report looks the way you want before you export it.
Language
The report comes out in the app's language. To get it in the other one, switch Language in Settings first.
Sections
Under Sections there's a switch for each section of the reading, in the same order and under the same headings as the full reading.
Under With each person there's a page for each other person in your list. Family and partner pages start on. Friends, colleagues and others start off, so you choose whom to include. Your choices are kept for next time, for each person.
At least one section always stays on. You can't export an empty report.
What's on every page
Each section starts on a new page. At the bottom of every page you'll find:
- The report's line with the birth date.
- The Calculation ID.
- The page number, counted over the pages you actually exported.
Some pages also carry a short note at the foot, like the reminder that health is the traditional view and not medical advice. The general disclaimer always travels with the report, even if you leave out the section it usually goes with.
The calculation ID
The note in the sheet says it: this PDF uses the same calculation as the app. The calculation ID is a short code that starts with calc-. It's the same one you see in How we calculated it and in Settings. If two copies show the same ID, they come from the same birth details and the same settings.
Exporting
The button at the bottom says Watch an ad and export: a short rewarded ad, about 30 seconds, and then the PDF. If no ad can load, because you're offline or for any other reason, the button says Export PDF (no ad available) and works straight away. The export is never blocked.
Then your phone's usual share options open. From there you can save the file, send it or print it. The file is named after the person.
The ad never receives your birth date, time or place. The PDF is put together on your phone, with nothing sent to a server.
Before you share it
The report carries birth details and, if you chose them, pages about other people. Share it only with the people it's meant for, and if it includes someone else, it's best if they agree.
