See together and groups

4 min

This guide describes the Pillars phone app. The website does the same calculations, but some screens and features work differently or aren't here yet.

Lay two maps on the kitchen table, side by side, and you start to see where the roads meet and where the rivers cross. That's what these pages do with two or three charts.

You'll find two buttons on the Chart tab and on each person's screen:

  • See together: the person with one other. It appears once someone else in your list has a birth date.
  • See as a group: the person with two others. It appears once there are two more people with a birth date.

The page is always read from the chart you started on. From your own Chart, that's you.

See together

Tap Choose someone and pick one person in Who with? People who only have imported pillars can't be picked, because there's no chart to compare. The app remembers your last pick for that person, so next time it opens straight on that pair.

The page for two people usually brings:

  • What each one is for the other, by their Day Masters, with a title like Clara gives them support and protection.
  • How their elements balance: what one has plenty of and the other needs.
  • Harmonies and Friction points: where their pillars combine, and where they clash or rub, with whose pillar meets whose.
  • Their story, confirmed by the chart, if you've added events like the day they met.
  • A chart of the coming years for both: Their years together for a couple, or Their cycles: when one dips, the other rises for anyone else.

The relationship you set changes the page. A mother and daughter are read differently from two colleagues. You can set or change it in the Relationships block.

See as a group

A group is the person plus two more. Tap Choose people and pick up to two in Who else is in the group? With only one chosen, the page says One more to go.

Once there are three, you'll see:

  • How the three of you work: who lifts whom, and who sets the bar.
  • What brings you together and Where you rub.
  • The next years for the three of you, as a small chart.
  • Key dates for the three of you and Tips for the three of you.

Every finding names whose pillar meets whose, and all three pairs are covered.

Saving a group

When the group is complete, tap Save group and give it a name. The app suggests Home, but you can call it anything: Work, The cousins, Sunday lunch.

Saved groups appear as small chips below the group's three places. Tap one to open it. Press and hold it to rename or delete it. Deleting a group only deletes the group. The people stay in the app.

Saved groups also appear in the full reading and the PDF, under In groups. The last group you looked at is remembered too.

How to read them

There are no scores here, and no compatibility percentages. A clash doesn't mean two people don't get along. The tradition reads it as movement: two rhythms pulling in different directions, which usually need a little room. A harmony doesn't guarantee anything either.

These pages can't tell you what someone else feels or will do. They give you something to talk about, and maybe a little patience on the days you rub.
